The DDA will consider a $2500 sign grant request from Facial Aesthetics, which recently opened at 701 12th Street (map). They will also discuss the costs associated with this year’s seasonal outdoor business program. At their April 11th meeting, City Council suggested that the application fee be up to $2050 this year. They suggested that the DDA might want to defray some of that cost. The board will discuss it tonight.
The will review the long-awaited Downtown Parking Study. A copy of the study is included in the meeting packet, beginning with an Executive Summary on page 35. The City plans to encourage people to use the former Coors lot on 10th Street and will run a shuttle service to bring them from the parking lot into downtown.
The meeting packet includes a memo stating that “Calvary Church, Golden is seeking proposals from land developers and the local community for the sale of their property located at 817 14th St. in Golden…. Particular consideration will be given to proposals that add affordable/attainable housing, senior housing, and housing for the unhoused or offer other innovative solutions to the accessibility of housing in Golden.”

GOLDEN HISTORY MOMENT
According to Coors: A Rocky Mountain Legend, the Coors mansion was built by brewery founder Adolph Coors as a present to his wife in 1890. It was constructed with pieces of a dance pavilion and beer garden, which had operated on the brewery grounds, but had been closed for many years.
There were originally three cottages for family members, but they were demolished to make way for brewery expansions. The mansion itself was moved about 450 feet in 1962 to allow for a brewery addition.
The mansion still remains, and is visible from Highway 58.
