Golden History Moment

Photo from the July 20, 1970 Golden Transcript, showing the construction beginning on Station Number 2

The April 10, 1970 Golden Transcript announced that City Council had taken the first step to approving a new fire station on Ulysses Street. The estimated cost was $14,000 for the metal building, with an additional $2500 for equipment. A new fire engine had already been purchased.

In 1983, still another station was built, on Heritage Road. The Ulysses Road station is now used for storage.

Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
