In case you missed yesterday’s excitement, there was a fire west of 6th Avenue just south of 19th Street.  The Golden, Pleasant View, and Foothills Fire Departments responded and contained the fire withing 40 minutes.  Approximately two acres burned.

It is believed the fire was caused by an electrical pole.  At the same time the fire started, power was knocked out to all homes in Golden west of 6th Avenue.  Xcel Energy was called in to fix the power line and restore power.

Additionally, a small fire was sparked near the intersection of 10th Street and Jefferson County Parkway, also believed to be from an electrical pole.  That fire was put out quickly and no acres burned.

In light of the hazardous conditions, the E-Days fireworks that were originally scheduled for this Saturday night have been cancelled.   They will be rescheduled when conditions improve.
