The Golden History Center has coordinated with Foothills Art Center (with their Chihuly glass show) to present glass with a local spin.  One of Golden’s early industries (1877-1878) was called Colorado Glass Works.  It was located at the corner of 8th and Ford (where Coors Tech is now).  Twenty-some glass blowers worked there, using local clay, sand, coal, lime, and minerals to form the glass.  They shipped bottles all over the state.  However, since the business was so short-lived, their glass is very rare.

The exhibit also includes bottles from Golden historic dairies, pharmacists, and brewers.  Most of the pieces in this show are on loan from private collections.  This exhibit includes very rare, very local glass.  Don’t miss it!

The Golden History Center (923 10th St.) is open Wednesday through Saturday 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Sunday noon – 4:30 p.m. Call 303-278-3557 for more information.
