If you plan to nominate someone for the Mayor’s Award for Excellence, you must do it by 5 o’clock this afternoon.

Planned changes to the Buffalo Rose.

The Historic Preservation Board meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council chambers.  They will be reviewing some major changes planned for the Buffalo Rose, which include eliminating the corner barber shop, and adding a second floor beer garden.  The Board is asked to grant a “Certificate of Appropriateness.”  If you want to provide comments on this project, plan to attend the meeting.  The project plans are available online.

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority also meets at 6:30, and they will be in the City Hall conference room.  They will consider several grant requests, as usual; the lots at 12th and Jackson and 13th and Jackson that they plan to give to a developer; sidewalks being added along Colfax, a new industrial development planned for the south end of the city, and a planned development along Colfax where it parallels I-70, south of Heritage Square.

If you live in the area around the under-construction Natural Grocers (24th & Ford), you may want to attend a planning meeting tomorrow night from 6-7.  The neighbors and businesses are planning a Better Block Party for October 12th, to help envision how the “Triangle” can be used.  The meeting will be held at Bumps & Bundles, 2600 East Street.

Golden Beer Talks is tomorrow night!  Dr. Dendy Sloan (the Mayor’s husband) and Dr. Cynthia Norrgran will discuss “3 Minds and Memory” at the Windy Saddle Cafe.  The featured beers will come from Mountain Toad.

The moon will be full tonight.  If the weather cooperates, it will be a nice night for sky-gazing.
