Spring cleaning, spring planting, raptors, and jazz

The Jeffco Sheriff’s Office (map) is holding a Shred-a-Thon this morning from 7AM-noon.  Each person will be allowed to drop off three copier-paper boxes or kitchen garbage bags of papers to be shredded. Old checks, carbon copies of checks, bank statements, pay stubs, receipts, credit card offers, medical information, bills, and retirement statements are typical of the type of forms which should be shredded, so use this opportunity to get it done.  Prohibited items include phone books, newspapers, plastics and aluminum cans.

The Greener Golden event is this morning from 9AM-noon.  Head to the Public Works building (map) to buy some attractively-priced xeric plants and water wise products, and while you’re there, collect some free mulch (bring your own container for the mulch).

Rangers will be on hand at North Table Mountain Park (map) from 9AM-noon to teach you about the raptors that live in our area.

The Golden Games will be happening all day on Clear Creek.

West Side Live! is presenting “After Midnight” tonight at 7, at the Unitarian Church (map).  Award winning clarinetist Roger Campbell leads the hottest sextet since the Big Band Era! Swinging hard since 1997, this extraordinary group of musicians has performed thousands of concerts around the world for jazz festivals, clubs, weddings, summer concerts, and more. They conquer dizzying charts by the likes of Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, and Lionel Hampton. It’s tight, fun, exciting, danceable, and hugely popular among the jazz and swing crowds.  All Tickets: $17 online / $20 at the door.
