The Public Art Commission will discuss their recent meeting with the Parks board. The two groups were considering locations for public art in the various parks. Ulysses Park is being redesigned, and that will have a more specific discussion, as will the proposals submitted by community groups.
We will soon begin seeing a new crop of Itty Bitty Art projects, in anticipation of ArtsWeek 2023. This year’s projects will be concentrated in Parfet Park. GOLDEN HISTORY MOMENT
107 Years Ago
The June 1, 1916 Colorado Transcript announced that the City Meat Market, formerly located at 10th and Ford, was moving into its new building on Washington Avenue.
A. J. Treffeisen has taken a five-year lease on the Coors block on Washington Avenue, and the building has been fitted up with new and modern fixtures. An immense new vault, having a capacity of 6,750 pounds of ice, has been installed. This vault will need refilling only four or five times in a year… The back room and the basement of the building will be used for the manufacture of prepared meats and for storage. Mr. Treffeisen and his family will occupy the second floor.
Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
Dear Sponsors and Supporters,
My apologies for the missing list of supporters today. The software that I use to generate that list just released a new and improved version. So far, the most notable new feature is that it doesn’t work. I hope the list will be in tomorrow! Thanks, as always, for your support.
