The Sustainability Board meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. They will discuss downtown recycling, the planned roll-out of “smart” water meters, and possible building code amendments that would promote green building practices.
Free charging stations for electric vehicles at Golden Real Estate
Speaking of Sustainability, the City and the School of Mines have both received grants from the Regional Air Quality Council to install free electric vehicle charging stations around Golden. The first station (which accommodates 2 cars) has already been installed at Golden Real Estate at 17695 S. Golden Road. The real estate office installed 5 kilowatts of additional solar panels to support the new charging stations.
The others will be installed in the 1250 Jackson St. parking garage, the upper lot at the Community Center, Dr. Courtad’s Renewable Energy Demonstration site (15th & Jackson Streets), and two other locations, as yet undisclosed. These are ChargePoint stations which require a ChargePoint card, but there is no cost for using them.
