The Longest Day (and What to Do With It)

Today is the longest day of the year!  The sun rises at 5:32AM and Sets at 8:31PM, giving us 14 hours, 59 minutes, and 18 seconds of daylight!  (source)

I put out a call for garage sales yesterday, and have two listed on the new page:  golden.com/sales.htm.   One is this weekend.

The Railroad Museum has a big weekend planned.  Tonight, they’re hosting one of their popular “Colorado Rails and Cocktails” events.  Storyteller and retired teacher, Steve Lee, will present the story of Kate Shelly. Kate was only 15 years old on the night of July 1881, when a train wreck and her remarkable bravery would put her down in the history books as railroading’s most famous heroine.  The doors open at 6, and tickets are $12 for members and $15 for non-members.  Tickets include two beverages–beer, wine, or soda.  Learn more….

Tomorrow, the Railroad Museum is having their Wild West Day: Robberies, Rascals & Rides.  This is a fun event.  Not only do they offer rides behind a coal-fired steam locomotive, they’ll have train robberies, shoot-outs, fast draw contests, and sharpshooting.  Junior railfans can make their own sheriff’s badges.
