PAC will discuss their small art projects, which were released in time for ArtsWeek. The city will be adding QR codes to those installations so passers-by can learn more about them. They are finishing three videos about the art collection. The one about Return of the Cutthroat will be shown at the August 12th Movies and Music in the Park.
The mural along Washington Avenue recently underwent some maintenance and a condition assessment. The retaining wall itself has damage, unrelated to the mural, and some of the paint in the mural is peeling away. The board will discuss future maintenance, including consideration of the nature of outdoor murals–are they intended to be permanent, and maintained forever?
There will be a Morning StArt Artist Meetup this Friday, August 5th.

Golden History Moment
The August 4th, 1970 Golden Transcript alerted readers that the First National Bank was undertaking a large expansion. When completed, it would provide “more tellers, more offices, 7 drive-thru windows, and double the present parking capacity.”
Until then, they would be using the old house next next as their drive-up facility. Once the construction was complete, they planned to demolish the old house to make more room for parking
That building is now occupied by Wells-Fargo Bank.
Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
