City Council meets tonight at 6:30. Their consent agenda includes three items: hiring special counsel to work out the terms of a tax settlement with IBM; hiring special counsel to represent the city against a taxpayer who’s declaring bankruptcy; and making a $15,000 contribution to Bell Middle School’s iSTEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program.
The Mayor will proclaim the 2013 Golden Sweetheart on behalf of the Golden Cultural Alliance (tune in to see who it is!) There will be two public hearings–one about pretreatment of wastewater, and one about easements at 10th Avenue and Johnson Road (south of the new post office). After the business meeting, during a study session, they will interview candidates for the historic preservation board, discuss the 2013 work plan with the Economic Development Commission, and discuss the council communications budget. For details about any of these topics, see the agenda on the city’s website. The meeting will be broadcast live on cable channel 8 and available streaming from the city’s website.
