The Planning Commission meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. They will be considering a request regarding the former Golden Montessori School on Cheyenne St. The property is zoned commercial, and the owner would like to be able to convert the property into 4 dwellings. The city already held a neighborhood meeting, and the neighbors are in favor of the change.
After the business meeting, they will hold a study session to consider our yard sign conundrum. You may recall that the Supreme Court recently ruled that cities cannot make an exception for campaign signs–if a city limits the number of signs that residents can post in their yard, that limit is in place all year round, including during election season. Hitherto, we (and just about every other city in the country) limited the number of yard signs most of the year, but allowed more during election season. The meeting will be broadcast live on cable channel 8 and streamed through the City website.
