The Historic Preservation Board meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. They will hear an update from City Staff regarding possible futures for the Heritage Square buildings. This will be followed by a presentation by local historian Rick Gardner on the history of Heritage Square.
The board will also discuss creating a digital walking tour of the historic districts, possibly collaborating with the Golden Landmarks Association. They have been discussing building a stand-alone app (which generally cost between $3K and $20K). Tonight, they will consider an alternative–making the data available through a Google App called “Fieldtrip.”
The meeting will be broadcast live via the city website.
Incidentally, if you’re interested in walking tours, try the tours on this site, which cover public art, the Clear Creek Corridor, the School of Mines campus, Historic Downtown, and the residential historic districts. Each tour is available either online or as a print-friendly PDF.
