A young and successful television actor relocates to New York, where he rents a marvelous, gothic apartment. With his television career in limbo, the actor is offered the opportunity to play Hamlet onstage, but there’s one problem: He hates Hamlet. His dilemma deepens with the entrance of John Barrymore’s ghost, who arrives intoxicated and in full costume to the apartment that once was his. The contrast between the two actors, the towering, dissipated Barrymore whose Hamlet was the greatest of his time, and Andrew Rally, hot young television star, leads to a wildly funny duel over women, art, success, duty, television, and yes, the apartment.

LAST NIGHT AND TOMORROW MORNING
There was a big turn-out at last night’s meeting about Clear Creek crowd management. Staff distributed an FAQ, which is also available online. The conversation will continue tomorrow.
Councilor Casey Brown will host Coffee with Councilors tomorrow morning at 10AM at the Community Center (map). “We’ll be discussing creek management strategies, including a recap of what strategies were implemented last year, and a preview of new concepts being explored for 2023. We’ll also welcome special guest Mitch Battilla, the owner of Adventure West, one of the two licensed tube outfitters in Golden, to learn more about their business operations and how they partner with the City on creek management efforts.”
GOLDEN HISTORY MOMENT
Easter fell on April 3rd in 1983, and the March 31, 1983 Golden Transcript was full of appropriate notices about church services, the Easter buffet at the Holland House, the history of egg-dying, and the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Parfet Park.
I had forgotten that Heritage Square had their own Easter celebration. They continued that tradition until the year they closed. In fact, even after the owners had begun demolishing the retail buildings, the owners of the amusement park tried to make a go of it as a stand-alone attraction. The landowners insisted that they drop the “Square” part of their name and call themselves the Heritage Amusement Park. That was the 2018 season.
Heritage Square is no more, but the Kiwanis Club will still host the big Easter Egg Hunt in Parfet Park on Saturday, April 8th. It starts at 10AM and it’s over in a flash, so don’t be late!
Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
