Veterans Day Service and World Bazaar at Mines

There will be a Veterans Day service this afternoon at 2 PM at the Marine Corps Memorial, at the intersection of Highways 6 and 40.

The Colorado School of Mines is hosting their annual World Bazaar this afternoon and evening, starting at 4 PM.–exotic sights, melodious sounds, tantalizing fragrances and heavenly tastes of faraway countries. Festivities begin at 4:00 p.m. in Friedhoff Hall, with a Fashion and Talent show to follow in Bunker Auditorium from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Mines currently has 672 international students, representing more than 77 different countries. The exhibits at International Day include samplings of food, maps, brochures, and posters from the students’ native countries. Displays will consist of handcrafted items, such as woven rugs, leather goods, musical instruments, jewelry and apparel. Some of the exhibitors will offer music and video presentations throughout the late afternoon.

The event is free and open to the public. Food sampling tickets are $1 each at the door, allowing visitors to sample from the many different countries present.
